Its C4 vtr plus 1.6hdi 110bhp 2006. I gave registration nuber to eurocarpart shop and asked for the low saps.. They recommended me the following one

http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/ecp/c/Citroen_C4_1.6_2006/p/car-accessories/engine-oils-and-car-fluids/engineoils/5w40-engine-oil/?521776081&0&cc5_248

Could anyone confirm me whether it was the right one or not.or if there is anything else better than this. Btw I got dpf problem in my car. hence looking for low saps oil.

It might be alright but the details do not mention the PSA specification. If you look in your warranty/maintenance book it will give you the recommended oil which will most likely be Total INEO ECS 5w-30 and will include the PSA spec reference. Your Citroen dealer will sell this for around £33 for 5 litres but it is available on ebay for about £24 for 5 litres. Personally I would use the Total oil and I use it for our cars.

In maintenance book it does say for-   Other Countries: Total Quartz Diesel 7000 10W-40, Total Quartz 9000 5W-40 but for Energy Saving Oil it says Other Countries Total Quartz Future 9000 5W-30 A5/B5 SL/CF, Total Quartz Future 9000 Diesel 5W-30 A5/B5 CF. and again there is caution above the chart which says Must not be used on c4 Coupe VTS 2.0i 16V, RELAY 2.8TDI, 2.8HDI, or engines: 1.6, 2.0 and 2.2 HDi with particle filter (FAP), 1.4HDi 16V and 2.0i and 2.2i Petrol.

are you recommending following one in the ebay?

The oldest warranty guide I have is for our 2007 C5 and on the back cover has 9006/2. In this for other countries I think it means outside of France since the Activa oil it says is France only and Quartz must be for other countries. The oil recommendation must have changed from your car year to the 2007 year, hence the reason to look in your book.

I do not know if any of the oils you have listed are low saps oils, I think the ACEA standard for these is C2 which in my warranty book is only listed against the Total Quartz Ineo ECS 5w-30 oil. The only warning listed is 'for C4 2.0i 180 hp, it is essential to use exclusively the oil 5w40'.

In the Warranty guide that came with our 2010 C3, the only oil listed for diesel engines with a dpf is the Total Quartz Ineo ECS 5w30 oil with PSA standard B71 2290 and it also warns to only use a C2 standard oil for topping up. Comma Pro-Tech oil is also to this spec and viscosity.

So from your guide it appears you have a wider choice of oil than cars from 2007. The oil in your link is the one recommended for cars from 2007.

I have found the sump plug washer that needs replacing is less than £1 from a dealer but other suppliers may charge several times this. I also get the oil filter from the dealer to make sure it is the correct one.

Thats why I was confused which oil to go for. Shall I go for eurocarpart or the one you recommended?

Oil selection is confusing and I think I would use the Total oil INEO ECS 5w30 but when you go to the dealer for the oil filter and drain plug washer you could ask them which oil should be used.

In your warranty book which oil does it say not to use on the 1.6 hdi ?

Problem with eurocarparts is they are suggesting to use an oil they sell but a look on the eurocarparts site without using your reg, just a 2006 1.6 hdi there is a long list of oils but the one you have been recommended says it is not for dpf cars http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C4_1.6_2006/p/car-parts/car-lubricants-and-car-fluids/lubricant-and-fluids/engineoil/?521776081&1&3ce9608926c20c8b062e52e78247438ad21873e6&000398

This one says it is for a dpf http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C4_1.6_2006/p/car-parts/car-lubricants-and-car-fluids/lubricant-and-fluids/engineoil/?521776051&1&50ef68164c9b049f02f6ca33dccc811d3aa5e872&000398

A look on Castrol's site for a 2004 to 2009 C4 1.6 hdi 110hp (80kw) dpf recommends a 5w30 C2 oil. Without the dpf they recommend a cheaper oil.

A look on the Total website recommends the INEO ECS oil 5w30 or 0w30 for the dpf car. http://total-gbr-e-commerce.lubricantadvisor.com/advice.aspx?lang=eng&typeid=23cb45b585a55605b202dd4f6551ae8b&br=62ce082f5afe4d02

Thanks for constant help Paul.h. one more thing, just someone suggested me to use engine flush additive to the old oil before draining. and other very important advice was to remove banjo bolt filter in the oil feed pipe which is potential thread for the turbo failure. I even don't know what is that filter look like and how can i get access to it.

what do you think?

In the turbo oil feed pipe there is supposed to be a small filter in the banjo bolt at the engine block end of the oil feed pipe and it should be removed using a small screwdriver. If the turbo fails this pipe should be replaced and the filter removed. If you are going to do this then I would replace the pipe or at least check it is clean internally. The pipe may be Citroen part no. 037968, the banjo bolts holding it have different part nos. inlet and outlet and also depending on the car VIN have different nos. - you may be able to clean them and re-use them. The copper sealing washers on these bolts are part no. 015708 and 4 are needed, 2 for each end of the pipe/banjo bolt. To tighten the top bolt a 8.5 mm diameter rod/drill should be placed between the neck of the round end fitting (where it joins the bolt hole round section) of the pipe and the turbo casing and the bolt tightened to 30 Nm. The bottom bolt needs a 7.5 mm rod/drill held between the pipe end fitting and the engine block and done up to 30 Nm. This way the pipe should remain in the centre of the neck of the end fittings to avoid any stress.

I am not too sure about doing oil flushes. They can dislodge oil deposits/carbon that has built up and if not removed by the oil change and flush then these may block the oil filter and oil ways.
