danieljw Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 After not having a C5 in the past I would like to quire my Guages.. once warm, my water temp sits a tiny bit under half way, no number or anything on the gauge.although my oil temperature sits not even a quarter up the gauge. could i put this down to a worn sensor? car has done 105k miles. my battery meter sits a tiny bit over half way when the engine is running, but when sat with just the ignition on it goes full, but drops to the red in no time.. Thank you. Quote
paul.h Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 The water and oil temp gauges are doing the same as our car. The oil temp does not go up like the water one being a lot slower to start moving and then not going up much. The battery one on our car sits about midway with the engine running or with the ignition on and the battery in a good state of charge, but will be lower if the battery is down a bit and then move to mid way once the engine is running. I have never seen it go to full. When you open the door or put the key in the ignition you may notice the gauges inc speedo and rev counter all twitch a bit as they are checked by the car. Quote
danieljw Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 I'm starting to think my water sensor isn't right every now and the. It's drops to the blue even after it's been running for a fair amount of time... Quote
paul.h Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Rather than the sensor being at fault, it could be the thermostat . Faulty sensors tend to fail and show a high temperature soon after the engine is started. Quote
