mickrochip Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 hello there can any one please tell me where the fuse for heater motor is,when i turned my fan control up to full speed yesterday the motor cut out completely, it also did this a few weeks ago, but came on again when it got a jolt. could this be a bad connection , broken wire or a dud fan motor thanks for all your help
paul.h Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 From one of your posts, your car is a 2004,54 plate, 2.0 hdi.The problem could be any of the ones you suggest as well as the fan speed resistor controller. The handbook for our 2007 C5 in the engine fuse box has F11 40 amp air conditioning blower, so this could be the fuse for the fan.
mickrochip Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 thanks for you quick reply, will check fuse(s) tomorrow, but may be i have another problem, in that the fan symbol on the multifunction screen still works, this also happened a few weeks ago,but when car stalled and got jolt from starting when moving the heater fan came on again any ideas please
mickrochip Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 just checked fuses all ok, could it be the heater resistor, by the way , where is the resistor situated
paul.h Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 According to the Haynes manual, the blower resistor is located at the right side of the heater unit in the driver's footwell and is accessed by removing the soundproofing under the driver's side of the facia. It is held by 2 screws. I have noted (probably from on here somewhere) that when the resistor fails on manual aircon the fan only works on speed no. 4 but on dual air con the fan does not work at all and the fan display will show but then go blank.
mickrochip Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 hello there i just wanted to let you know that the heater fan started to work again this evening, it works on all speeds,i've had the air con. checked, fuses checked, everything o.k, maybe this idea is away off , but could the outside temp. have anything to do with it. today was quite mild, and the day it stopped working was quite cold and icy, as i say maybe a wild idea but may be possible , thanks for now
cagiva1000marcos Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hi to all my first time on here hope someone can help me please? My C5 estate heater fan is on full and will not turn down is it the fan or is it the heater blower motor resistor i have been told it is a common fault with the C5 Thankyou
paul.h Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Welcome to the forum. It will be the resistor but I have seen comments on here that if the motor is also faulty then it could cause the resistor to fail again and that eventually a motor may also be needed.
mickrochip Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 thanks for your reply, i have also com to that conclusion that the fan motor might need replacing,do i need to take the dash out to get at the motor an resistor , i have looked at the drivers side of the console bu can not find the heater resistor. does any body have pictures of this location please
paul.h Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 If you do not have a copy of the Haynes manual, have a look at the link in post 13 here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/8163-haynes-manual-for-c5/
mickrochip Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 thanks to all for your advice, problems now fixed, bad connection at motor, all fixed now and going well
mickrochip Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 hello there . back again my heater motor has now given up the ghost, not working at all, now can anyone tell me where the screws or locating tabs are to remove the motor from the housing, or maybe a picture of them, I hope that the dash does not need to be removed
paul.h Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 According to the Haynes manual, first remove the passenger glovebox, page 11.20 and then disconnect the blower wiring, release a retaining tab, rotate the motor anti clockwise and remove it, page 3.10. You can see the Haynes manual through the link above including the pictures showing how to do it.
mickrochip Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 howdy folks this heater resistor is driving me mad, cannot find it any where, i have looked the drivers side at or about the clutch , im worried that the dash will have to come out, to get at it, it is a pain at the moment , no heat or demisters, can any one help me please as to where to find this unit,or maybe a picture of where it is . thanks in antiacipation for all your help
paul.h Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 There is a picture of it in the Haynes manual, page 3.10, picture 10.36. If you still have not yet got a copy and not looked at the copy of it in the above link, then it appears as photo 172 in the link https://picasaweb.google.com/117321021404803473044/HaynesCitroenC5OnlineCarWorkShopManual?feat=flashalbum#5577453713766749762
mickrochip Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 further to query about heater resistor, i have searched the place as per photo you supplied , there is nothing like that connection on my heater casing. my car is a 54 plate 2.0l hdi 16v vtr. (face lift model) it has the dual climate control if this makes any difference
paul.h Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 We need coastline taxis to help on this since I have no more information that can help. Likely he will have worked on this before.
mickrochip Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 howdy folks , sorry for the delay,in getting back to you, i have found out that the resistor is built in to the motor, it now raises another problem, no power to motor . it is maybe a blown fuse, broken wire, or could it be sensors on ac . the heater display still works as usual so if any body can tell me where the fuse is i will check to see if it is blown
paul.h Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Please add any replies here where the topic is continued http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/24559-blower-resistor-where-is-it/
