Melvyn Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Hi, I have a Citroen C3 Furio and the ECU was found to be filled with water and the car refused to start. I searched everywhere for an ECU and was told that I needed one with the same code which is ME7.4.5. I found a second hand one from a Peugot 208 and the auto electrician coded the 2nd hand ECU with my initial data. He plugged it in and my car is not reading the ECU. Can I do this myself or can you perhaps provide me with some support. Thanks. Quote
paul.h Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Welcome to the forum. The following is from Citroen's procedures for replacing the ecu Bosch ME 7.4.5 3. Safety recommendationsN.B. : The configuration operation is a delicate operation which has direct consequences for the operation of the vehicle.Incorrect configuration can have adverse effects on :Safety (Deactivation of the vehicle’s protection systems)The overall operation of the vehicle (Down-grading or complete loss of the vehicle’s functions)Vehicle diagnostics (Recording of fault codes that can cause the diagnostic tool’s diagnostic methods to fail, leading to unjustified replacements of parts)Before any attempt to start the engine :Check that the parking brake is activatedIf an automatic gearbox, check that the gear lever is in position "P" (Park)If a manual gearbox, check that the gear lever is in neutral4. Preliminary operationsBefore any operations :Establish communication with the ECU ; Using the diagnostic toolPrint out all the diagnostic tool screens that indicate the configuration parameter values, or note down these values by hand5. ConfigurationIf configuring the ECU :Establish communication with the ECUPerform the configuration by internetCheck the downloadIf replacing an ECU :Fit the new ECUEstablish communication with the ECUPerform the configuration by internetCheck the downloadPerform the programming operations (If necessary)6. Configuration tablesN.B. : The parameters of the "customer options" menu are also present on the configuration menu, so it is not necessary to configure these if the parameters of the "configuration" menu have already been, or are going to be, configured. For software evolution indices lower than 11.00 (see identification menus), apply the schedule of configuration table n°1.For software evolution indices higher than or equal to 11.00 (see id So it looks as if you may need to visit a Citroen dealer to have the ecu programmed to your car. You may also need the remote keys and radio from the other car so they are recognised by the replacement ecu. Quote
