BillyTunstall Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Hi I am having trouble with the central locking not working on the wife's c3 2008 I've done all the usual when I reprogram the key the central locking works until I take the key out put in the garage same thing key works when I put it against front bottom windscreen so think it's the com 2005 unit which has the central locking receiver in it priced one at Citroen £370 can get from scrap yard or eBay for around £40 now what I need to know is do I have to match the part number with mine 96640417xt as I read somewhere or do I just need the same unit with all the same arms (indicator lights etc)as I got told by a car dismantled or does it need to be programmed in to the bsu (I think that's what they said)as that controlled everything as Citroen said Any help or advice will be much apriciated as I've searched the web for weeks and quite a few people are having the same issue Cheers billy Quote
paul.h Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Welcome to the forum. Have you tried a new battery in the key fob since if it needs holding close to the car that could be a sign the battery is low voltage or the signal from the remote is weak. You could check the battery voltage just in case you have replaced it but the new one is no good. Quote
BillyTunstall Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 I have put new batteries in both keys both do the same lock the car whilst close to the area steering wheel looks like the signal is not getting picked up which after a lot of searching led me to the com 2005 unit on the steering column that has the receiver in it thanks for the reply Wouldn't be so bad but all the doors don't lock with the key or stay locked when you lock from inside and open the door Quote
paul.h Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 In the side of the doors behind a round sticker you should be able to use a key so they lock when closed - this is in the handbook somewhere. Try a message to coastline taxis about the different comms 2000 units since he looks after a number of Citroens and I think he may have posted in the past that you can use one from another car without it being exactly the same. He will also know if you need a diagnostic to program it to the bsi. Quote
