Bob Gnarly Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi Everyone, Apologies if there is a better place for this post but I couldn't find the right place to put it. Also if there is already a recommended garage thread somewhere please send me a link. I've had my 2008 C5 tourer exclusive for a couple of years now and I've used this site to identify and fix the odd problem so thanks very much for the useful advice. I'm now on the lookout for more helpful advice regarding recommendations for a good independent Citroen friendly garage in Leicester. My c5 has developed the well known steering rack leak and being a Hydractive 3+ model, makes the whole problem a little more complicated. All the garages I've spoken to have been reluctant to take on the work because they "believe" it will be a complicated job and aren't familiar with it. I've tried All Fours garage in Leicester who say they are a Citroen specialist but they are refusing to use a refurbished power steering rack which adds about another £1000 to the cost of the job (which is already expensive due to the labour charges for the job). I could do with finding a decent Indy who is open to sourcing a using a refurbed part. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Bob Quote
paul.h Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Welcome to the forum. If you can not find anywhere near your home why not travel a few miles up the M1 to Wakefield. These people advertise fitting a refurbished rack for £355 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272025670230?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I have not used them but there was a link to their website in one of the leaking steering rack posts. Approx 90 miles from Leicester so total about 180 miles and 3 or 4 hours driving to save about £1000. Quote
Bob Gnarly Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Cheers Paul, I had seen that link before. It's certainly an option if no one local can be found but it would be nice to know if anyone else on the forum has had experience of them. I might give them a call anyway and see what they think of the job and how competent they sound. Quote
