mickrochip Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 hello thereI have a problem with my key fob , it will not open the doors , or put on the lights . (CENTRAL LOCKING)I have a second key but this fob does all the actions that it is supposed to do, activate central locking, putting on front lights.both keys start the car, I have tried swapping batteries in the fob but still the same, does the electronic part need to be changed or replaced thanks for now Quote
paul.h Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The fob may need to be initialised to the car which should be done anyway when its battery is changed. The procedure is in the handbook under remote fob battery change and is something like put the key in the ignition and press and hold down the fob lock button until the doors lock. Quote
mickrochip Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 hello there, I carried out your advice as to key fob, it is now working at night only, during the day, it will not work by pressing the buttons have you any more advice please Quote
paul.h Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I can not understand this, 1 fob works as normal but the other only works when it is dark. The only things on the car that are light sensitive are the automatic lighting and automatic wipers - both work from the sensor in the middle top of the front windscreen. You could try covering the sensor to keep out the light to see if this lets the faulty fob work. If it is not light but temperature related then possibly the faulty fob has a bad internal connection/solder joint. This is from the C5 Common Problems topic: 48. Remote key repair. If the remote does not work it could be a solder joint on the pcb that needs resoldering and a new remote is not needed.
