rulo Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Hello All, This is my first post here. Forgive me if this question was asked many times. I am just about to buy C5 2008 (old shape) and I wonder what is the correct procedure of lifting C5 with hydroelastic suspension with wheels hanging?I understand that car has to be set to highest setting and now: do I need to open the LDS tank or not? If I open LDS tank do I need to re-pressurise system somehow before closing? I spent quite a bit of time seraching all sorts of forums but could not find the answer or rather I can find lots of contradicting answers! Many thanks in advance. PR Quote
paul.h Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Welcome to the forum. If jacking the car up to remove a wheel, in the handbook somewhere it says to first raise the suspension to max height and then switch off the engine. If this is not done there can be problems with the suspension later. I have done this many times and had no problems. I would imagine if the car is on a lift with the wheels hanging the same would apply. It would not harm to slacken the lds tank cap to release the air pressure once the suspension is raised and the engine switched off but do not remove it completely to avoid any dirt getting in. Then once the car is back on the ground and lowered to normal height the cap can be tightened. The tank will build up pressure on its own without needing any intervention. On the mark 3 C5 2008 on model, Citroen's procedures say to slacken the tank cap before raising on a lift if the wheels are to be left hanging. There was a recent topic where this was not done and the lds tank split. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23422-c5-30-exclusive-hdi-steering-pump-reservoir-explosion/ Quote
