gav23welsh Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Hi guys ive got a 2004 picasso xsara 2.0 hdi, and i suspect my inlet manifold and egr is clogged up. How easy is it to remove the egr and manifold to give it a good clean. I found the egr is at the bulk head and looks like a nightmare. My reason for cleaning is because i think my vacuum manifold is sticking now and again. One minute my mpg is doing 40mpg and the next its doing 30mpg. When the mpg drops the car is feeling very sluggish. Ive replaced the maf so ive tried that option any help that would be great gav Quote
paul.h Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 The Haynes manual says access to the egr valve bolts is tight from above and below and suggests removing the engine or the subframe. However, Citroen' procedures do not say this. The procedures are for removing the egr and cooler or connecting pipe so it may be possible to just remove the egr valve. If there is a cooler then drain the coolant, remove the air filter and MAF, disconnect the coolant hoses, remove the egr valve lower nut from underneath and the upper nut from above, remove the bolts at the manifold end, undo the egr valve actuator hose then lift out the egr valve/pipe or cooler, undo the egr valve/pipe or cooler connecting collar. Replace any seals. Quote
