Hi guys,

My 06 C5 makes a noise when pulling off, it's like a rubbing sound. It only happens when I'm moving off from a standing start just after the bite point is reached as the wheels turn.

Any ideas?

Are the brake discs a bit rusty or is the handbrake stuck on or other brakes sticking or is there a stone stuck between a brake back plate and a disc ? If the noise is from the back corrosion occurs between the brake calipers and suspension arm which pushes the calipers out and they can touch the wheel rims.

Read about the corrosion elsewhere on here, so I'll check that. Got a feeling it's brake disc related, as when I'm coming to a stop they do squeal a lot, only when you apply that last bit of pressure to stop do they do this though. Edited by JH1865

If the squeal is from the back it is a classic sign of the corrosion problem. On our first C5 I tried just cleaning up the brake pads but this did not stop the noise until I later removed the corrosion. At nearly 10 years old I would think the corrosion will have been removed before but it really needs to be done every couple of years.

This topic is worth a read before you do the rear brakes http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/6881-removal-of-rear-brake-calipers-pad-replacement-c5-to-2008/
