toastie15 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Hi guys, my 03 C5 1.8 VTR has just started to have some weird problems such as the boot lid keep popping open and the driver door not unlocking with the central locking although it does lock again, anyone have any ideas? I have also began to wonder if battery is on it's way out as could be quite old. Quote
MikeLane Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I have the "driver's door not unlocking" problem if the car has been unused for a couple of days. It seems to need a fully charged battery but always unlocks with the key and locks with the "plip". I've sprayed the keyhole and all the lock parts I can see without taking the internal panel off but I think the problem is a sticky solenoid. Anyway it seems better now and usually opens with the "plip".The boot locking/latching mechanism could perhaps also need cleaning and lubricating. I'd give it a good spray with WD40 and then brush it clean with a toothbrush before oiling or greasing it. Quote
toastie15 Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 Yeah have already sprayed both with lots of WD40. Quote
paul.h Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I have deleted your similar posts and copied my reply here so that all replies are in the same place and edited the topic title a bit. Welcome to the forum. You could have some wiring problems, check for damage between the driver's door and body and similarly the tailgate. Also check the tailgate switch and its wiring. Quote
