Petebrewer64 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Hi there. My 2010 2.0 C5 Exclusive started to "bounce " on my way home today, as though I had a flat tyre. When I pulled up,the rear of the car was sat on the bump stops. When I tried to raise the setting I got a warning up saying "suspension fail ". I managed to raise it slightly and get the half a mile home before it went completely down again. On looking underneath the rear of the car I found a switch that seems to be broken. There seems to be a link from the rear anti roll bar that isn't connected to anything. Could this be the problem? Is it an easy fix if so? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance Quote
paul.h Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Welcome to the forum. This sounds like the height adjuster switch which has a rod between the switch and anti roll bar. The rod can break and a new one can be bought from a Citroen dealer for a few pounds. This is from point 30 on the Technical section Common Problems topic Parkesie has also reported the rear height sensor linkage arm had corroded and broke on his mark 3 exclusive C5 causing the rear suspension to drop. See http://www.citroen-o...ng-on-its-arse/ Axle stands should always be used when going under the car since catching or playing with the height sensors can cause the suspension to drop to a very low level so the car is only a few inches above the ground. Petebrewer64 Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 Thanks for quick reply. My cars back end is almost on the floor now lol. I will look into getting a replacement switch and linkage and see if that cures the problem Quote
paul.h Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 You probably only need the linkage but have a look first. If the switch needs replacing then it may need the suspension height setting with a diagnostic. Quote
Petebrewer64 Posted March 21, 2016 Author Posted March 21, 2016 Fastened the linkage together with a cable tie and the car rose to the ride height. New linkage ordered from Citroen and will hopefully be here on Wednesday. Thanks again for your help Quote
