Please Help, Part On My Xsara Is Broken But I Do Not Know What It Does

i fitted a new stereo to my 2003 xsara estate (not picasso) today and i broke a bit and cant find out what it does?

its attached to the facia to the right of the lcd screen its like a little round vent, well on the back is a motor with a fan type thing, ive broke the catches and cant fit it back on, i took the fins of it and just left it as i dont know what to do with it, i do not own a manual, i have asked about but nobody knows,

any help would be great

thanks for the reply,  yes it is the A/C sensor for inside temp :)
