Dash Digital Display

The digital dash display on my Xsaara Picasso is dull on the left hand side, I have difficulty seeing the display eg the speedo and temperature etc. Is it a lamp failure? if so how do I get at it to change the bulb? Any help appreciated.

The display surround should unclip (the Haynes manual shows a screwdriver being used at the end of the surround to unclip it but use some card to protect the plastic against damage) and then a couple of screws hold the display in place. After removal the bulbs can be accessed on the back of the display.
