whene i first start my car and start driving after about 5 or 10 min a message comes up saying gear box fault then i pull over ,restart the car and it doesn't do it again and it runs fine is this because the gear box oil needs changing

You will need a diagnostic check to find out what the car thinks is wrong, otherwise just guessing can cost a lot in unnecessary bits until you find the actual problem.
