dori2o Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Hi, I have a couple of jobs I need to do with my C4. There is a message on the dash that the pollen filtration system is faulty. I have been told by the dealer that this means the filter probably needs replacing. Can anyone confirm that this is likely the case? How simple is it to replace the filter and where under the bonnet should I be looking? Is this an easy DIY job for someone who is engineering minded but by far not a car expert? Will it require a new filter or is it possible to clean/vacuum the existing one as is possible with other makes/models? Would this issue (pollen filtration system faulty) cause the EML to light up? When looking under the bonnet there is a mat (can't think of the right term, sorry) which is attached to the gulley the the bottom of the windscreen and goes under the gulley (Some type of insulation?). This is attached to the gulley at several points along it's length with plastic studs/clips apart from one point where there seems to be a join. Is it possible to buy a replacement of this mat as it's a bit wet and is hanging down a little over the back of the engine block. If not is t simply a case or drilling a new hole for a plastic clip and reattaching it? (The hole in the mat where the original clip goes has ripped and the clip wont now hold it. The tailgate. It opens fine and the struts keep the tailgate open, but when closing it slams shut. Other cars I've had have usually had some form of paddinbg around the tailgate and the boot closes without a slam. It's like there is a buffer or something missing. Both the rubber mounts are attached to the tailgate and I can't see that there is immediately anything missing. There is a rubber seal around the outside of boot opening. Should there be another one of these rubber seals around the inside of the boot opening where the carpet for the boot is clipped as the clips are missing (I have replacements) and the carpet is a bit loose? If so are these easily obtainable? If not can anyone suggest anything else as I'm worried about the effect the closing of the boot with the slamming might have on the glass. Would this identify an issue with the struts? Thanks Quote
paul.h Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 It helps if you put the car details and mileage in your posts or you could edit your profile and put it in your signature. I have already put a bit in your signature from your previous topic but if you could add the engine info it will help. Anyway, on all C4s, the cabin pollen filter should be changed every year or 2 and if you look at the bulkhead where that matting is hanging off, the left hand end as you look from the front of the car hides the pollen filter. Simply remove the clips and pull off the mat and you should have access to the filter. The clips are not that good at holding the mat in place and it can get wet but probably nothing to worry about. Do you have the exact wording of the dash message since common ones for the exhaust particulate filter may be something like anti pollution fault, particulate filter blocked or risk of blockage and the engine management light coming on and fault codes being generated which need a code reader to read and delete. On the 1.6 hdi the exhaust particulate filter is at the front of the engine. There is a Haynes workshop manual for the C4 up to model year 2010. For the tailgate, I would have a look at the parts diagrams to see if anything is missing.
