jamesh1996 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Hi guys new owner of a citroen c1 was wondering if it would be ok to use tesco momentum 99 I no that the c1 , take full advtage of the fuel but just wondering if it would be ok to use in my 08 c1 vibe? Quote
paul.h Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Welcome to the forum. In your handbook it will give the minimum octane rating of the petrol required. If you go for a higher octane rating the engine will probably perform a bit better since it will not need to retard the timing a bit to prevent pinking. Whether or not you notice any difference to justify the higher cost is a different matter. Tesco themselves suggest you will get better fuel economy of a few per cent when compared to their normal unleaded petrol https://www.tescopfs.com/our-fuels/tesco-momentum99 Quote
jamesh1996 Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 So my manual says minimum 95 octane so I can use anything above that? Quote
MikeLane Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Probably not worth the extra cost. All petrol cars have been designed to run on 95 for many years now. 99 octane might be better for old sports cars though (BP Super, Esso Extra etc.... plenty of lead in those fuels!) Quote
jamesh1996 Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 I no but I just wana try I'm not botherd about the price all helps my points at tesco plus I'm staff and have some free fuel vochers from a trip for work I made so I just wana no if I can actuley us it in my car Quote
paul.h Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Should be ok to use in your car, otherwise Tesco would not be allowed to sell it. A search has some comparisons with other premium fuels and it seems to have been around for a few years so any problems would have come to light by now. If you try it maybe you can come back and give a quick report. Quote
jamesh1996 Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 Cheers guys il give it ago when I next fill up and il keep you informed on the fuel! Quote
jamesh1996 Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 So I filled up with momentum 99 a from the moment I filed up the car felt sharper and abit mo reponsive on the throttle I've just droped down t two bars this morning bearing in mind they say it takes 3 fills to see the benefits I've done 17 more miles than when it normaly drops down as I keep a cheack on this and to say it only cost me 2 pounds more than normal I'm exited to see what it's like after after 3rd fill up Quote
