I have a 2004 Xsara Picasso 1600 8V.

I recently changed the power steering pump and alternator after the former leaked and damaged the latter.

All straight forward until it came to tensioning the new drive belt. Even at full tension the belt is slack.

I have checked several different suppliers and they all reference the same belt as the one I purchased or variants of the same,

depending on manufacturer, with part numbers that cross reference, e.g. Dayco 202441075

I cannot find any pictures or diagrams of the tensioner wheel and its mounting plate online, and I'm wondering if it has been

modified and replaced, or do I simply have the wrong belt?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Regards

Peter.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked the new belt against the old one and the pulleys on the steering pump and alternator to see if they are the same as before ?

You could check the Citroen parts diagrams against your VIN (VIS) if you register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres You may need to select your language first. Put your VIN top left once on the parts diagrams to find your car. The aux belt might be found under Electric / alternator or something similar.
