welshspringer Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 HiHelp needed please. It would seem that I have experinced clutch failiure on my Berlingo 2.0 people carrier.First noticed a slight noise from what I thought was the offside front bearing. I drove for some 30 miles, stopping and starting with no difficulty. Having to stop at a roundabout (hill start) I experienced what felt like intermittent grabbing of the drive wheels, pulled away after some footwork on the clutch pedal. Had no problem for the next 2 miles when I reached home and the garage. I placed car into reverse and shuddering started, then lost all gears. Tried to engage gears when smoke emitted from under the bonnet. Turned off ignition and smoke stopped. My thoughts were t hat due to the non selection of gears the clutch was under pressure. Can someone throw some inteligence my way please to diagnose the probelm. Much happreciated if any one can. Much happreciated if any one can.It sounds very much like clutch failure especially as there is smoke as well, I'm guessing there is no fluid leaking out under the car ?Are you anywhere near Swansea Quote
welshspringer Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 No sign of fluid under the car. Merthyr - sometimes Port Eynon. Quote
paul.h Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 If it is still the 2.0 hdi 2004, then as well as the clutch there may be a dual mass flywheel which will need replacing or as a minimum checking to make sure it is not worn. However, a quick look on the eurocarparts site does not show a dmf for your car so maybe it does not have one. You could also check the cv joints are not worn in case it is not the clutch. Quote
welshspringer Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks for the info but would a problem with the CV stop me engaging any gear?. Car being picked up tomorrow morning for a trip to te garage for remedial surgery. Hope it is not tooo painfull on the wallet. Quote
pjg68 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 There is a very reasonable place in Swansea that did my picasso 2.0HDI clutch for around £300, Swansea Brake and Clutch centre, not far from the Liberty, doesnt look like much of a garage but the job was done in half the time Citroen Qouted and less than half price using LUK parts Quote
