aspire_helen Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Ive had time to focus on m car of late so I thought I would address a log standing fault. The drivers heated seat has not worked, on any heat setting for many years - the passenger seat is OK. The fuse is OK and many years ago a Citroen dealer checked it and said the problem lies in the heating element and they could only replace the full leather seat cushions/covers complete with integral heating element at mega ££££s. So I have lived with it ever since. Has anyone had this problem? Quote
paul.h Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 The parts diagrams do not show a separate heating element but only the cushion/cover. However, on a Saab I had the driver's seat heater stopped working so I removed the cover and found it was a thermostat in the element that had failed. I replaced this with an electrical connector and just relied on the on/off switch to turn the heater off once I was warm enough. So it could be worth taking the cover off to see if there is a problem you could fix. If you use any wire in the seat make sure it is flexible and long lasting since if it breaks it could give a hot spot and burn a hole in your trousers. There is a bit of info here and you may be able to get a universal heater element to fit http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/How-to-Replace-the-Heated-Element-in-Your-Seats-/10000000177591798/g.html Quote
