uffington 15 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Hi I have just put a deposit down on a C5 1.6 EHDI Millenium auto Tourer or it maybe called a Final. Bit vague as it is a French car that is being transferred to Spanish plates. Have test drove a couple of the 1.6 hdi auto and was surprised to find myself speeding without realising. I currently drive a Volvo XC70 auto 2.4, biggest difference is the gear change in the C5 but I feel it is better when in the Sports mode. Have tried finding details on the net but have struggled finding the exact spec, will have to wait until it arrives and then I can play and compare what I have with the handbook I have downloaded. One think I will want to do is get the daylight running lights switch on, hopefully it will available in the menu. I will keep this forum link ready for the questions that will probably arise. Quote
paul.h Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Welcome to the forum. On the C5 Technical section there is a pinned topic of Common Problems to check on your new car. On the C5 (X7) a leaking steering rack and the front wipers not working are common and both are expensive to fix, so worth checking if you have a warranty. In the UK, until it became compulsory for the daylight running lights to be on, they required a diagnostic using dealer type equipment (Lexia) to activate them. The bulbs are also expensive to replace at maybe about £40 so some have replaced them with led ones and there is a topic on this. On the 1.6 hdi you need to ensure the oil/filter changes are carried out as required (possibly 12k miles or 1 year) using the correct oil to help the turbo last. Quote
uffington 15 Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 Thanks for that info, I am hoping the car will be in good condition as it is from a Citroen garage. Strange over here in Spain as they are bringing in French, German and other country secondhand cars. I asked the dealer why and apparently it was due to the economic state of Spain in 2010 - 2012 and not so many new cars were being bought. That goodness they are dealing with the transfer as it is expensive ad compplicated, won't get the car until around the end of the month Quote
