I cannot find a suitable place on my windscreen that allows GPS data to be received.

I get data if I mount on side or rear window.

Does the heat reflecting quality of the windscreen form some sort of screen to the signals.

If anyone has found a solution, I would love to hear it.

We use a Garmin sat nav in our C4 and that needs careful placing to get a good signal, nearer the side windows is best. If you have a hand held sat nav you could move it around the car to see where the best signal is. It might also be possible to get a separate aerial for the dash cam.

I have moved the topic in to the C4 section since you may get more replies from there. Also I have put your car info as your signature to save having to mention it every new topic.
