Our RAC renewal on their Camping and Caravanning Club Arrival scheme (which includes caravans without any size restrictions and dual recovery) has gone up from £151 to £201. This is for personal cover for 2 people and previously we also had a named car for any driver but this has been removed by the RAC so we were being offerred less cover for a 33% increase.

I phoned them thinking there was a mistake but was told the full cost was £248 but as a gesture they would reduce it by 10% to about £180 to keep us - we have been with them for 26 years, on average used them about once every 5 years including an accident recovery which we had to pay for (and got back from the insurer). No reason for the increase was given so I have not renewed it and the RAC just accepted it so they may be getting lots of cancellations. Pity they could not do better since it is easier to retain existing customers than try to get new ones.

I have now taken out the Caravan Club Mayday scheme with Green Flag which offers similar cover for £131.50.

A quick search shows the RAC has been sold a few times over recent years with the last time at the end of 2015. Maybe the new owners have taken out a large loan and are putting up prices to cover the debt or maybe asset stripping. If they lose all the customers though maybe this could be the start of the end of the RAC.

Can't fault reen Flag buddy, a;ways a spot on service, can't speak for the RAC, I could never afford their prices. Don;t suppose price matters to you millionaires ? Ha ha

Apparently it's now owned by a conglomerate in Singapore and the CVC Group so it's probably BREXIT that's caused the increase!
