Well what a joyous, fun packed day that was.Tried to fix rear estate glass opening switch.

Followed everything to the letter,it didn't work,so,took wire i had carefully gaffa taped all the way round the glass off and said sod it,so what glass doesn't open.

Now to the fun part, and considering i didn't disconnect any block connectors while doing this job, there is now a beep everytime i press lock on the remote 'and' the car doesn't lock!!(although it sounds like its locking)and for an extra Brucie bonus there is a warning on the dash going along the road that my tailgate is open??Which it isn't!!

I then found out if battery in keyfob is going down there is a beep to warn you, thought maybe that beep i have newly acquired after failed window fix was jyst the battery in the fob?Renewed it,no difference.

Oh yes and the initialising thing in the handbook that tells you what to do after new fob battery doesn't work! ;-)Help!

Sounds like a wiring problem to/within a lock so the car does not think the rear is locked. You could check the wiring between the body and rear door in case it has broken, often it will be within the rubber sleeve. Maybe the initialising is not working since the doors will not lock. If you have the spare fob see if that is still working.

This is the rear glass door opening fix from the Common Problems topic if you have not seen it:

42. Estate tailgate window does not open or opens on its own when not wanted.

This topic contains a fix so it will open. Citroen can supply a repair kit for about £15, part no. 653898. http://www.citroen-o...te-rear-screen/

This topic includes some photos and a fix to stop the window opening on its own (disconnect the solenoid) http://www.citroen-o...ow-opening-fix/

Thanks,i'm really careful when I work on things so I don't think I disturbed anything enough to cause the tailgate warning light to come on the dash? One thing I want to get straight,so if there is a warning that the tailgate is open on the dash, will this confuse the central locking?Central locking was perfect before and there were no warning lights.

All I did was use a scotchlock like the instructions say on the yellow wire on the top brown connector, gaffa taped the wire down to the bottom solder joint,i didn't even go as far as soldering the wire on,just fixed it against the original solder join and tested the switch, that was it!!

It is possible it was just coincidence the warning started after doing the work. I have found with central locking if the car thinks any door is not closed it will not lock the car - try it with another door open and you should see the same. Some cars have switches to tell the car the doors are closed but on Citroens I think they are built in to the locks, if so you may need a new lock.
