issus Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 My wife has just bought her neighbours C3 1.4l registered in '59 and has done 57k for £1500!! Sounds a bargain to me. Interestingly the timing belt(Cambelt?) renewal is not due for 150k! or 10yrs. Do members follow this service recommendation? Could not get my head round the fact that there is no DPF; after all it is 2009 car. The normal start up for Diesel is you wait for the glow plugs to heat up(normally an icon on dash goes off after 2 seconds). Also after a longish run it appears to be common practice to wait 10/20 secs before switching off. This allows fresh oil to get to the turbo bearings, Is this procedure ok for C3 Diesels. Any view please :D Quote
Rookie2 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Do not follow the recommended belt change data. I would not let any Pug Citroen get anywhere near 70,000 before changing the belt. The scrap yards are full of engines which the owners followed the recommended guidlines for. Yes, do wait for the Turbo to cool before switching off, it's a great habit to get into on just about any turbo charged car. Oh and welcome to the forum Quote
paul.h Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I think the car years are a bit mixed up, is it a 2005 or 2009 model since the C3 came out in 2003 it can not be a 1995 or 1959 model. It is up to you how long you wait to do the belt, but if you are keeping the car then at some point it will need doing, so sooner rather than later may be best then you do not need to worry about it. Do the tensioner, any pulleys and the water pump at the same time. Quote
MikeLane Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Think he means "59" registration - i.e. second half of 2009. Quote
paul.h Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 That is what I suspected but I do not want to waste time looking up solutions to problems on the wrong model year or for 2 model years, I spend enough time already on here. Much better for the poster to get back and provide the correct info first. Once issus gets back to us I will edit the topic title and the post. Quote
