Andyman Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Hi all grate site, we have a problem with are c3 we got her a year ago it was love at first sight, the dpf came up on the test drive and we were told it's OK she's been owned by a old guy and that should go away with some good driving, well a 2011 model on 21000 miles makes sense to us, and the garage has a very good reputation, so we had her, we Pope back in a few times because of it same answer drive it hard and yeah the particular filter warning light went went off. Well in one year she's up to 34000 miles, and all he'll broke lose, it's all ways on, thay had her in, cleared the light, re gen the filter, thay told us it was the temperature sensor on the dpf, that's change cost us some money, it's realy stressing us out, now thay said we can't tell what fault it is take it to a citroen garage thay can pop it on there diagnostic kit because there's can't do it, so we have threatened the ombudsman on them because...well this was the first fault on the test drive and it's gone form just telling us now and then to limp mode and all thay do is cancelled the fault and send us away. So now thay have offered to change the bag for a discount price, lol, two day job apparently, and we're convinced thay ain't got a clue, so if you have read this far thank you, Questions...1 do you guys think it's worth paying a citroen garage to diagnostic her and give us the stright line take the hit then go back at the garage? 2 what could possibly be the problem, been regenerate, new temperature sensor on the dpf, have noticed that the dash external temperature is now not working just blank too? 3 if it's the bag is this a job another garage could do with say cheeper parts, save us some money! Thanks for reading Quote
Rookie2 Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Hi Andyman Just a little confused about your problem and wondered if youi could clarify please. What is this "Bag" that you mention ? Can you list, one after the other, the exact faults the car is presenting to you. cheers Quote
Andyman Posted February 11, 2017 Author Posted February 11, 2017 Sorry dyslexic so I mite make a odd misake, thank you so much for taking interest, the bag I speak of is a bag that adds a additive to the fuel to help regeneration, the thing is I don't think thay know what is wrong with it, and i think thay just hoped the few bits thay have found on what ever thay are useing to find the fault, will work, problem is what if thay only hafe have the info and the bits there's swapping out are fine and it's something els making them look like the problem, I'm strating to think the only way forward is to take it to a citroen garage, after all its had a regeneration done, and it's had a temperature sensor done and with in 4 days a box comes up saying your particular filter is at risk, and the the service light comes up, it mite drop off for a little bit but it's not for long and it's getting driven hard and plenty we done 11000 miles in a year so it's not short journey thats a issue! We are very confused! Quote
paul.h Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Welcome to the forum. As I understand, there are 2 problems.1. The outside temperature is not showing - this is likely to be the temperature probe on the bottom of one of the door mirrors needs replacing or maybe there is a fault with its wiring. I do not think it will not be related to the other problem. To replace the probe the mirror probably needs removing. 2. You are getting messages the dpf is blocking up.The garage has possibly not done a full diagnostic check but has suggested putting a new bag of the additive in ( some Citroens it comes in a bag that is swapped over, others it is topped up from a bottle). The additive normally lasts about 70k miles unless it has leaked out of the bag, which has often been reported before on the C3 Picasso so could well be the cause of the problem. It might also be something else. This is copied from the C3 Common Problems topic and includes costs - about £120 for the additive/bag and possibly a similar amount for the labour and diagnostic to tell the car it has been replaced, so you do not get messages saying the level is low before the expected mileage at about 70k miles. It is not a 2 day job and the book time should be less than 1 hour including the diagnostic. I suspect your garage is trying to fob you off.26. Leakage of eolys fluid - red goo drips on the floor. This appears to be a common problem and needs the fluid bag replacing since the original can deteriorate. Cost about £120. See this topic http://www.citroen-o...ys-fluid-leaks/ I suspect you have already decided you will be better taking the car to a Citroen dealer, who should know what they are doing and I would go along with that. At least this way it should be sorted first time. I do not know how long a warranty you got when you bought the car, but if the dpf did not block up after the first time and then went for a year before it happened again, I would suspect the garage is not responsible for the dpf problem now and if so I would not waste your time bothering with them. Andyman Posted February 11, 2017 Author Posted February 11, 2017 Thank you so much Paul, that makes life a bit more easier to understand, the warning been coming on and off all year and the times we have taken it in, I suspect thay have just knock it off, thay obviously don't know the code or can't get the code for the bag and are taking a punt! We have decided to bite the bullet and let the guys at Citroën look at her, thay after all have all the kit to get to the bottom of it! And as for the garage...were going to keep pushing on the useing the ombudsman and maybe more to get something back, thay have hung the weight on us till its turned into a bad problem, funny I found out from my online suching today thay were a Citroën service centre... And ain't anymore... I can see why! Lol Thank you all for your help I hope I can be of help on hear at some point for you guys!! Quote
