Chazchuzzlewitt Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Hello, new member here... my other half has a 2007 C3, 1.4 petrol 'desire', and her oil sump has gone rusty so I need to replace it soon. From what I've read and having had a quick look underneath at last oil change, it looks pretty straight-forward- just a couple of questions- does the exhaust get in the way or is there wiggle room to drop it down?... and is there a gasket for the sump pan- I've read that it might just be a bead of sealant instead but can't find a definite answer..? cheers :) Quote
Rookie2 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) You should get the gasket here http://car-parts.mister-auto.co.uk/en/gasket-oil-pan-citroen-c3_lg455_ls4841/ If you need a sump it is here https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Car-Engine-Engine-Parts/Citroen-2002-2010-Petrol-Engine-Steel/B00U1PP6GM Not sure about the exhaust, will do a bot of research, by the way, welcome to the forum. cheers Edited March 2, 2017 by Rookie2 Quote
Rookie2 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Just checked some online images and it appears that yes, you would be better to drop the exhaust. Quote
paul.h Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 According to the Haynes manual for the C3, the exhaust front pipe/catalyst needs removing (at the manifold flange joint and 2 bolt joint to the back section), the sump bolts and nuts removing and then the sump (may need to be tapped a bit), a wiring loom may need moving. For the 1.4 petrol it says that sealant is used on the sump and not a gasket - this is only on the 1.6 petrol. The sump bolts and nuts are tightened to 8 Nm and the sump drain plug 30 Nm (use a new washer, they are less than £1 from a Citroen dealer). It the rust has not gone all the way through the sump you could always paint it. It would save the cost of the oil/filter change unless one is due and the cost of sealant and the sump and the exhaust manifold and down pipe joints. The nuts on the exhaust down pipe/catalyst to back section joint are a locking type and you may need new ones as well as a new joint. At the manifold flange joint you will need a new gasket. Quote
Chazchuzzlewitt Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 Thanks for the replies, seems fairly involved then, I've recently done the oil/filter so I'll have to have another, closer look and if it's not too bad repair/paint it instead! Quote
