col_hf Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I have owned my C4 grand picasso 1.6 hdi exclusive since new 2009, and the battery has served me well, but now it doesn't hold a charge for very long possibly because I don't do any decent runs and the wipers and lights are on. Now my question is> is it easy to dismantle the fuse carrier arrangement on the top of the battery, there is no infor; in my handbook except for a fuse layout diagram, also any recommendations as to A/H size and dimensions before hand many thanks in advance Quote
Rookie2 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Hi Col I am sure Paul H will be along shortly to answer your questions , I believe he owns a C4 or two so should sort you out. Quote

Rookie2 Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 No Probs, getting the answer you need is the name of the game, no matter where that answer comes from Quote
paul.h Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 A battery lasting 8 years is good going so it is due for replacement. Last couple I have bought were Exide ones from eurocarparts. Not the cheapest place but with a 4 year guarantee it is possibly easier to go back to them. Quote
col_hf Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 thanks I typed in my cars spec on ebay and there are Lucas 60 A/H to fit at £45 + 4 year warranty which I thought was fantastic value, I have had mine on charge now for 24 hrs I'll see how long it lasts cheers Quote
col_hf Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 can some one let me know the correct dimensions of the battery please Quote
paul.h Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I think the easiest thing will be to measure the existing battery. Also note any details on it such as Ah and the cranking amps to make sure you get a battery with at least the same values or more. Do not go for one with lower values or in cold weather it may struggle to start the car. A look on the eurocarparts website for a 1.6 hdi comes back with a 74 Ah, 680 cold cranking amps exide battery - assuming you do not have stop/start. The 60 Ah battery you have suggested may be for a petrol engine so I would carefully check what you already have. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C4+Grand+Picasso_1.6_2009/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770960&1&a2828080cef9b0b6492bc1320b439eb92b71a522&000020 Quote
col_hf Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 cheers. to measure exactly you have to disconnect the leads to remove the fuse housing I didn't want to do that as it means resetting the clock and stuff Quote
col_hf Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 I have just visited quite a few sites and put in my car details pus diesel and most come back as 60 AH but the sizes all vary so it looks like I will have to take the fuse carrier and battery cover off !!!!!! one day soon ha ha Quote
