Stiff Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 On 3 occasions I have had near catastrophic experiences. Once while stationary and twice whilst driving our automatic gearbox C3 there was a very short complete electrical failure. This stopped the engine and resulted in loss of power, steering and brakes. When stationary this was obvious but I was fortunate to avoid a serious accident when while going downhill. The faults occurred over an 18 month period. The car is fully serviced. The car has been put on a Citroen garage computer resulting in a "no fault detected" report. A further check at a Peugeot garage produced the same result. A third Citroen garage just said that the fault was impossible. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has anyone any idea as to a possible cure for this? Quote
Rookie2 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Hi StiffWelcome to the forum.I cannot say that I have ever come across this before on a modern car. There are so many controls and computers on modern cars you would think at least one of them would register ab fault. It kinda makes you think the problem is in the very thing that is supposed to register the faults = the ECU. paul.h Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 How old is the car, do you have a bunch of keys on the car ignition key, just in case the key is being turned slightly by the weight ? Could be a wiring fault somewhere with a bit of insulation worn off and occasionally the bare bit touching metal and shorting to earth. Maybe the ignition switch is worn and not making a good internal connection. Quote
