manxie Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Hi everybody,i am a newbie and my name is Joe.My sign in name is manxie i have lived over here for 22yrs. I needed to get away from London. Last month i bought a 2003 xsara picasso estate 1587 cc. It is a great little car. I have one problem and that is when i put my lights on the whole dash goes out except for the little light telling they are on. I cant go far at night without a dash. Any help would would be much appreciated. Manxie  Quote
paul.h Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Welcome to the forum. Possibilities can include a bad earth for the dash and a fault with the dash. You could also check the bulbs on the dash are ok. If you go for a replacement dash be aware that the car will adopt the mileage of the dash or the ecu, whichever is highest, so if a replacement has more miles on it than your car, then the car will adopt the higher miles, even if you put your old dash back. Haynes do a workshop manual for the Xsara Picasso which is worth getting and explains how to remove the dash and to replace its bulbs. Quote
manxie Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 Hello Moderator/ thank you for your input. I found the problem yesterday. It was a wire off the backof the two dashboard switchs. Something so simple..I got in touch with Haynes when i bought the car last month because i could not find one for this model. They said there is not one for this model. I asked them which other model book would be helpful for mine. she would not recomend any other. When i asked about book 3751 she said there is not one. Other people have mentioned 3751 but i have not been able to find one. Once again thank you for your input. Joe Quote
manxie Posted April 17, 2017 Author Posted April 17, 2017 I checked the list of Haynes and they do a 3751.That woman i spoke to dont know what shes talking about. I am told that 3451 covers my estate. I will check it out. Cheers. Quote
paul.h Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 The Haynes 3571 seems to be for a Seat Ibiza and not the Picasso. The 3451 is for the Citroen XM. The 3751 is for the Citroen Xsara but not the Picasso. For the Xsara Picasso 2000 to 2002 you need the Haynes 3944 as an example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3944-Haynes-Citroen-Xsara-Picasso-Petrol-amp-Diesel-00-02-Workshop-Manual-/350888424724 . For the Xsara Picasso 2004 to 2008 you need the Haynes 4784, as an example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Haynes-Workshop-Repair-Manual-Citroen-Xsara-Picasso-04-08-4784-/311494106717?hash=item48867ede5d:m:meaSuwPni2R8inyi1JIcJ6w You could get both of these but we had a 2005 Picasso and used the 3944 manual without any problems since at the time the 4784 had not been published.
