Hi All,

I recently bought a C5 2012, 1.6 hdi, and i m very pleased with the car. I have driven a few times from London to Newcastle and i have been positively surprised by the car as i was a little bit worried that the engine wouldn't have been strong enough for the car. Even though it is not as responsive as the 207 RC i used to own the engine is quite good and i have never felt that i did not have enough power. Moreover, the car is amazingly comfortable, even though it has the normal suspension. Having said all the positive things, i noticed the other day that 3 nuts close to the hinges of the driver's door have started to rust! I checked all the other doors and in general the rest of the car but i have not found signs of rust anywhere else. Has anyone had a similar problem before? What should i do? I suppose that if i go to a citroen dealership they should fix this issue under the corrosion warranty.

Thank you for your insights in advance

Welcome to the forum.

Are the nuts on the door or the door pillar ? A photo would help to identify them.

They might not be part of the corrosion warranty which possibly just covers panels rusting from the inside to the outside but you can look at anything in the Warranty and maintenance book which has the service stamps. To stop them getting any worse you could put a bit of grease on them or replace them.

Might be worth taking them out - one at a time - and greasing threads and the hinge before putting them back.

Hi Guy's

I also have noticed on drivers door (2011 1.6 e-hdi egs6 sloon ) a bolt that does not seem to do anything but has rusted and also my old 2009 vtr+ (that my friend next door bought of me) that also has this bolt that seems to do nothing which has rusted.

There was something on here a while back about the C5 (X7) door straps (which stop the doors opening too far and keep them in the open position) and they are built in to the hinges, so possibly these bolts are to do with those.
