MikeLane Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) This is not really a problem but, for some time, I used to get the message "Risk of Particle Filter Blocking". It always disappeared sometimes after a few miles or after overtaking, I thought I might be short of Eolys but never topped up the tank and never went into "Limp Mode".Now (touch wood) and for a few months I haven't had the message! My 2005 1.6HDi has done about 120,000 miles......I just wonder why. Edited April 27, 2017 by MikeLane Quote
paul.h Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Has the eolys fluid ever been topped up or the dpf cleaned or replaced ? Possibly the dpf is partly blocked or maybe the pressure sensor is a bit blocked. I am not sure where it is but if the sensor pipes from the dpf are followed the sensor will be at the end of them in the engine bay. If the message is shown it is likely to be when accelerating when the dpf differential pressure is highest. The lack of a message now could be the filter is not as blocked as before or maybe the pressure sensor or its connections are not right. Quote
MikeLane Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 "Has the eolys fluid ever been topped up or the dpf cleaned or replaced ?"No and No Paul. However, I've recently notice a lingering smell of diesel after I've switched off but performance and mpg seem unaffected so...(Also passed its MOT with no problems or comments in March). paul.h Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Have you still got the magnets in the fuel filler cap that operate the switch near the filler neck under the wing ? If either of these is not working the car will not know it has been filled up with fuel so will not count down the eolys level or add any eolys to the fuel tank. If this is the case then you will not get the message to say the level is low but you would think the dpf would block up. The service interval is supposed to be top up the eolys at 75k miles and replace the dpf at 87500 miles for the C5 1.6 hdi. Quote
MikeLane Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 I'll check the magnets but I did have a problem when the wire to the filler cap burnt through (strangely). That was at about 75K I think and I had lots of warnings which made me take the car to my indie for a scan (that picked up the fault).Since then - no real probs so I think "let sleeping dogs......."
