paul.h Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Welcome to the forum. You could check if the car battery voltage is low, should be about 12.5 volts before starting the engine. Also if the engine is slow to turn over on the starter motor would give some indication. Does the locking button on the dash work to lock and unlock the doors ? If so you could try to re-initialise the remote key following the remote battery replacement procedure in the handbook. Should be to put the key in the ignition and turn it so the dash lights up, then immediately press and hold the remote lock button until the doors lock. Then remove the key and see if the remote works. If not remove the battery from the remote, check the battery voltage (should be about 3 volts if ok) and if needed replace the battery with a new one. Then do the initialisation procedure again. I recently had to do this on our C5 remote spare key since it had not been used for years and had lost synchronisation with the car and was not working - when holding the lock button down the doors did not lock but once removed from the ignition it then worked but only after removing the battery and then putting it back and initialising it again. The clock and radio resetting though could indicate a different fault. We had a previous C4 that would frequently reset and this was fixed by a software update at the dealer. Quote
