Barfly Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 So, just bought a C4 GP 2014 Exclusive Plus with 74k on the clock from a Citroen garage. Got a few issues I thought I'd ask about here before I went back to the garage. First off is the indicators that work fine except for the fact that they make no sound at all when activated. Is there a setting for this or a simple fix?Second is the right rear suspension makes a continuous, god awful squeaking noise when driving at any speed. I can live with the odd creak and rattle since it's not a new car but this is migraine inducing. Is this a known fault and would it be covered under the Citroen extended warranty that I took out?Lastly is the ECO mode, which after lots of long drives to recharge the battery, never comes on. At best it flashes three times and then goes away without actually activating. I've driven my father in laws C4 and the stop/start feature works no problem. Is this likely a tired battery or alternator issue? Just to add, I tested the battery with my voltmeter and it's only sitting at 12.35v.Mark Quote
paul.h Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Welcome to the forum. I have not driven your car model but on our 2015 C4 I can hear a clicking noise when using the indicators with the engine not running but when running do not notice it. Similarly with the hazard lights the relay can be heard clicking. The noise though comes from the steering wheel area so may be part of the switch unit that is under the steering wheel (comms 2000 unit). If the dealer has other Citroen cars you could check this at the dealer if they try to fob you off. Possibly the squeaking noise is the rear brakes need a service and the brake pads are seized or maybe even worn out. I would not expect a dealer to sell the car though if worn out since there is a long list of checks as part of the Citroen approved used car scheme. Does your car have the air suspension ? Eco mode comes on after the engine is stopped and if continuing to use something electrical such as the doors being left open or the radio on and can take maybe 15 to 30 minutes to come on. 12.35 volts is low and charging off the car or doing a few hundred miles (without lots of starting) should get it higher to around 12.5 to 12.7 volts - if not then maybe the battery is due for replacing. If you have stop/start the battery is expensive, possibly 2 or 3 times that of a normal one so I would get the dealer to sort it/pay. Quote

I've driven the father in laws 2016 C4 and it makes a tick tock sound when indicating. Needs to be some sort of sound when driving as I need to keep looking at the dash to see if I've put the indicators on or remembered to cancel them. The squeak I'm almost certain comes from where the suspension (top of shock) meets the body of the car. I can recreate the noise by rocking the car by hand. For whatever reason it's louder on the inside than the outside of the car. Brakes pads and discs look to be in good condition. The car is fitted with springs rather than the air suspension. I was toying with the idea of buying a charger for the battery as I thought it would be classed as a consumable and therefore not covered by the warranty. If I thought they would replace it free of charge I'd ask for it. Would a suspension component and battery be covered by the Used Approved Citroen warranty? Quote
paul.h Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Since you have just bought the car any faults should be covered by the warranty. Quote
