Dumbo4 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Friends. The limp mode cuts in after about 10 minutes at 70mph. However it is mild and only really affects the car up long hills. On flat or downhill sections I can keep up 70-75mph. It has been like this for 2-3 years. I can live with it and the economy is excellent but has anyone succeeded in fixing it and how ? Interestingly, when the weather turned cold and wet last October, it virtually stopped doing it. Anyone else experienced this ?Incidentally, I had the PDF changed 3 years ago (only £280) and it transformed the performance back to its original excellent acceleration in the gears. They're sold as an exchange unit.Dumbo. Quote
paul.h Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 You need to use a code reader to find out what the fault is, anything else is just guessing and could result in replacing lots of parts before finding the right one. If buying a code reader you need to make sure it will work on your car first since obd compliance was not required on diesels until 2004 and it has been reported many low cost ones do not work on the C5.
