Oldsparky Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Hi, I have a the above Citroen (55 plate) and it's been a great car for many years. Unfortunately the bonnet catch no longer works and my local mechanic has said it will cause a lot of damage getting in to repair it. I was just wondering if anyone would know a way to release it without causing damage so my son could try and repair it for me. Thank you in advance Quote
paul.h Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Welcome to the forum. It might be possible to unbolt the lock by working from under the car and reaching up to it. The Haynes manual shows 2 bolts holding the lock in place on the radiator support frame. Also the cable to it is at the bottom of the lock so if the problem is just the cable has snapped/seized then the lever on which it fastens can be worked from under the car and reaching up. If the problem is the lock has seized then once you have access to it give it a good coating of grease and keep moving it to free it off. Quote
Oldsparky Posted August 12, 2017 Author Posted August 12, 2017 Hi Paul, thanks for your reply! I thought it might be possible to get to it from underneath, think my local mechanic was too busy to try. Yes the cable snapped when I went to do my normal checks. Thanks for the information, I'll have my boy look at it the next time he's done. Looking forward to reading the messages here, I'm glad I found this site! All the best, Mark Quote
