tezp2010 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Hi all my 1.9td synergie has gradually got worse with regards to starting, there is a smell of diesel from the engine bay which is stronger around the fuel pump. And o/s front wheel area. At one stage there used to be a small patch under the car where the fuel would drip. That's now stopped since changing a hose onto the pump. However the intermittent starting issues are still there, usually starts fine from cold, occassionally it still turns over and over. When running it doesn't miss a beat. If you leave it half an hour or so it will crank over and over like it's 're bleeding itself to start. If you prime it with the priming bulb it usually takes 8 to 10 pumps to before it goes firm. Fuel filter is clean and obky about 2k miles old. Made no difference changing it. I'm pretty sure it's leaking from the front/pulley side of the injector pump. All hoses are tight and dry, I removed a 10mm nut that joins the top and bottom timing belt covers and pulled the top half forward slightly and there was diesel dripping out and down the outer casing? I'm pretty certain its a bosch pump fitted. It's a 96 N reg 1.9td. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Usually it also starts better usually if its left facing down hill. I presume that means the fuel is less able to drain back to the tank. Thanks againTerry Quote
paul.h Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 You can probably replace the pump seals, there is some info here but the pictures are no longer available via the 3rd party site http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/9041-c5-22-hdi-h-p-diesel-pump-leak-fix/ Quote
