There's a 59-reg C5 3.0 HDi for sale on Autotrader (click here).  I notice in one of the photos a 'V6 HDI' badge on the left hand side of the boot lid, opposite the "C5 Exclusive" badge.   To the untrained eye, it looks a similar font, so is this an official Citroen badge applied at manufacture?    If it is, then it's the first I've seen.

Our Citroens always had the name Citroen at the back, if this is not an official badge then maybe it has replaced the Citroen name. A look at the Citroen parts diagrams for the C5 (X7) only shows a Citroen badge at the left side of the boot. On the right side there are a few options to put under the C5 model badge and include exclusive, bioflex, airdream and ehdi but none are 3.0 HDi. I have not seen a Citroen badge that gives the engine size. It would appear this is a modification and as such ought to be declared to the insurer if you were to purchase the car.

Thanks Paul.  I wasn't considering buying it, I've already got a 3.0 HDi Tourer (very good car), I was interested to know if this was a badge I could get from Citroen just to make mine stand out a little.    Surprised to read you say that it's a mod that should be reported to the insurer, what's your thinking behind that?    If it's advertising the fact that it's a (rare) V6, then the twin exhausts do that.

Insurance will use any thing they can to avoid paying out and when you take out or renew your insurance they always ask if there are any modifications. A few years ago there was a case discussed on the radio where a lady had a claim rejected since she had not told the insurer about stickers on the side of the car. It is best to let the insurer know about anything that is not standard and you are covered.
