2006 C5 2.0 hdi auto

driving me nuts - started hesitating/misfiring a few weeks back, but has now refused to start a few times, from both warm and cold

Would not start at all today, then started up perfectly this evening.

Loathe to take it to a main dealer (25 miles away) , but can't trust it. I don't have a laptop or software

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Is it due a fuel filter change ?

A code reader with live data would help. It would give you the measured temperatures (coolant, inlet air), rpm and fuel pressure but for much more you would need the Lexia. If you have rpm shown (also on dash) it would indicate if the crank sensor is ok. An example of one that does not cost too much is a Foxwell from Gendan for about £39 https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html .

Thanks Paul

Ths turned out to be the crank position sensor, which was only replaced a couple of years ago, at a main dealer.

Looks like they used a non-genuine part though - no citroen name on the bodyof the sensor..
