Tanya Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Hello I've recently purchased a Citroen Xantia but unfortunatley it didn't have the manual with it. I need to know how to change the start code. I think the default is 1,1,1,1 - problem is, the 1 is on it's way out. Can anyone help? Also, the dash light seems to have gone very dim, is there anyway this can be turned up? Thanks Tanya:unsure: ps... maybe someone has a manual they could share? Quote
DickieG Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 There procedure for changing the code depends on what version of the keypad you have. What year is your car? If you wish you can disable the keypad by entering the code as normal, starting the car then unplugging the connecting wire on the back of the keypad. Underneath the steering cowling you will find a small wheel/dimmer switch which adjusts the dash lights. Quote
Tanya Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 Thanks for that info, much appreciated. It's an M reg, I think that's a '97. To disconnect the pad, is it as easy as easing out the pad? Say with a screwdriver or something? Thanks againTanya Quote
kfk Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 ignition on: Enter your current code (1111)press 'C' ....it will bleep at you, twice i thinkEnter your new code (XXXX)press 'C' again......it bleeps again 4 times i think Without turning ignition off start the car. Turn off ignition, get out of car and lock doors wait about 2 minutes untill immobilizer starts flashing red open vehicle and enter your new code to start the vehicle (i might add if you have forgotten the code you just entered you will still be able at this point to start it using your old code) Entering the new code and starting the vehicle confirms the code and erases the old one from the memory. Should you wish to disable the immobilzer.....disconnect the key pad with the engine running. Word of warning though......write the code you last used on the rear of the unit.....sometime in the fuure some bright spark will say 'iwonder why this isnt connected' at which point having reconnected the wire the imobilizer will cut in and no one will know the code!.....if you do disconnect it i recommend leaving it at the factory default of 1111.
