DaveHerns Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I run a 2006 C5 2litre HDi Exclusive Estate and once every week /10 days when I start the engine , there's ticking/clicking noise from the OSF engine area which lasts for 10 secs max. Everything seems to work Ok . There's little point in taking it to a garage as it won't misbehave to order . Any ideas ? Is it serious ? Fortunately it'a lease car. Only done 10K miles I was very pleased to find this site as my local dealer was 1 mile away but has gone bust and I now have no one to ask questions Dave Quote
iannez Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 c4,s have a noisy canaster bleed electro valve that tick every now and again which is normal but not sure about c5's. its located in the top of the drivers side wing. is this where the noise is coming from. Quote
DaveHerns Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 Don't know .It never clicks for long enough to get out , open the bonnet and investigate ! Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Maybe just the hydraulic pump adjusting the height. If you had done many more miles I would have said look at the crank pulley because they tend to breakup at around 100K. (Was the dealer that went under Lovekyns?) Quote
DaveHerns Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 I was wondering about the crank pulley Amazingly it made the noise twice in one day today which is very rare. Never from a cold start .I'm not going to worry till it gets worse , it won't cost me as it's on leaseI like the car , superb cruiser with the 6 speed maual box and full spec Full marks for guessing Lovekyns .I live 1 mile from the Ruxley Lane branch. Open one day, boarded up the next. Shame as quite liked them , well , compared to my local Renault (Rubbish)/Nissan/Peugeot franchise........ Any suggestions where to take the car now ? Quote
