NeilC Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Last week I booked my Xantia into the garage to get the spheres changed (bouncy ride). This was done and for the first few days the car was fine. It then started to have suspension problems with the ride getting constantly worse. I took it back to the garage and they told me it was the rear suspension height corrector, which they replaced. The car was fine for less than a day. It now does not rise at the back and is sitting low. It does rise when I change the height using the suspension height lever, but it sinks when driving in the normal setting and is low. Any ideas what this could be? Quote

You dont say if this work was carried out by a Citroen dealer or specialist. However, it isnt uncommon for 'technicians' to replace a height corrector without checking the height of the vehicle or checking that the link rod to the new height corrector isnt broken. So first thing i would be doing is making sure the white clip is secured on both balls off heigt corrector and antiroll bar. I would then check to see if the metal clamp on the anti roll bar has come loose, or indeed that the sprung steel bit fitted to the antiroll bar is broken. I will assume you arnt going to look at this your self.....however, if you do make sure the vehicle is supported on axle stands whilst playing with the height corrector linkage......IF NOT IT MAY CRUSH YOU. Nav1g8r Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Great site guys! I have a similar problem: start up the car, Suspension "levels". Move the slider and the front goes up and down but not the rear... The ride is quite good for a 12 year old car and is not bouncy or wobbly but it seems odd that the back wont "lower" when the suspension slider is moved. Is it expensive??? Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Get under the back of the car and have a look at the plastic link on the height corrector (as KFK has outlined previously) The link may have broken or maybe just pulled off the ball. Either way, you´ll need a new one. Quote
Nav1g8r Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Thanks. I have a friend who has access to a hydraulic lift so will check it when i get it up in the air. :D Quote
