Welshguy Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 While dropping the car into the dealership for warrenty work yesterday, I asked for a price for a 20,000 service, as the car has currently done just over 17,500 miles. The price.... £210 !!! What does that get me exactly? I was in too much of a rush to ask... The dealership did offer me a price-match though, although I was "warned" that it was very unlikely I'd get a better deal...(lol yeah....whatever!) Quote
Rich_Eason Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I would have thought that is quite a good price if about the going rate. I seem to remember the last time I serviced a car with Ford, I was charged the princley sum of £190 for a Major Service about a year or two ago and £119 for a minor. Different company I know but will give you a rough guide to prices. Quote
hertsnminds Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Think of it in terms of cost per mile, 210/20000 = 1.05p per mile which sounds quite good. Ian Black 55 VTR+ Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I paid 225 quid for a service on my C5 when the mileage was at 12400 and one year old. All they did was change the oil and filter and the cabin filter. Daylight robbery! Quote
Mat Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 How close to 20k does it have to be to keep the warranty in date? Quote
Welshguy Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 I've been quoted £175 for the 1.4 VT From a Citroen dealership? Quote
Rich_Eason Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 How close to 20k does it have to be to keep the warranty in date? 19,999.9 miles + a bit. :) In general terms I think you are allowed to go over "a bit" but if you ever wish to claim for what ever reason that "bit" is ammo not to pay for that expensive repair. gosso Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I had my 1.4 SX serviced (20k) in December - £200 : 30 - straight forward service, no extras needed. Tony C. Quote
wozza Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Jazz Jack Rabbit! Sorry just seen your avatar had to comment. Used to play that game years ago when I first got a PC back in high school thats a long time ago now. Quote
xavtia Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 From a Citroen dealership? yes from the main dealers in Bristol although the book they have said £187 was being nosey while waiting Quote
kfk Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Unless you live in the middle of london i wouldnt expect anyone to pay more than £200 for a 20k service , whatever spec C4. Quote
C4VTS Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 20K service was £165 for me :) I've been robbed ! Quote
ging32 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'd ask for a discount mate. I spoke to my dealer and he quoted £175 including VAT for the 20,000 mile service and was told I could have a dicount on that. I did buy two cars off them last year though so perhaps thats why but it's always worth trying for a better price and play one dealer off against another. Quote
ham's c4vts Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 i had mine done last friday(9th Feb) and paid £203 for 12500 yearly service, oil filter, synthetic oil(quartz 9000?) and pollen filter, still expensive if you ask me <_< Quote
C4VTS Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I will be shopping around for the next one, that's for sure. <_< Quote

Nothing is mentioned in my service book about anything major like that. Quote
Rich_Eason Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 its only the VTS that have to have that done I think. Nothing is mentioned in my service book about anything major like that. I think it is petrol 180 VTS only Stu..I think. I seem to remember reading it and thinking that it was remarkibly low milage for a belt, but then if it goes bang thats it. The Foci belt was good for 100,000 but everything else timing belt related failed and (as on mine) gave up before the belt did. That made some intersting nosies both under the bonnet and at the dealers. Quote
Stuey Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 cant imagine anything but the 180 needing any major work before 100K, most modern engines are the same in that respect... Quote
