kfk Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Hi All, Whilst rumaging under the carpet in the front passenger footwell, I found a small pond down there. The foam under the carpet at the back passenger side was also damp. Windscreen plastic seal or heater matrix? Pat... Seem to remember that under heavy rain water can enter the heater intake by water running down the screen and geting under the plastic trim at the bottom of the screen. The plastic trim is supposed to be bonded to the glass, if it isnt it allows water under it Quote
avoneer Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 So a bead of sikaflex right across should do the job where the plastic trim meets the windsreen? Looks like I'll also have to remove the carpets and passenger front seat to let them dry in the house and see if it is the matrix or the windscreen! Pat... Quote
DickieG Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Be very careful about what type of sealant you use. I recently broke up a Xantia for parts, when I tried to remove the plastic shield it had been so well glued to the screen that the only way to separate them was with a boulster chisel. Yes it did wonders for both the plastic shield and the screen  Quote
Nav1g8r Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007  :D haha! Other faults on other cars were:a hole in the top of the compartment in front of the dash/engine baya perished rubber seal through the firewall (where all the wires come in or the cables etc..)a faulty door seal a faulty door window seal. Obviously they were on fords, VW's and many other makes but it might be worth checking these too... Quote
