Mat Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I guess nearly 2 years isnt bad for the wiper blades to last. My drivers side blade has a big tear which leaves smeers all over the windscreen. Where is the best place to get replacements? Halfords? Citroen? Ebay? Cheers Quote
C4VTS Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 You can get new rubbers on eBay for £7.50 Not tried them myself but it's a lot cheaper than the alternatives. Quote

kfk Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Indeed. But what is the difference between these for £7.50 and these for over £40? Could be in the clue that the cheaper ones are the rubber inserts......not only does the rubber deteriorate over time but the blade carrier also becomes worn and causes judder. Quote

The £7.50 item has gone off sale as well - there only a bargain if you can aactually buy them :) Funny thing is the new listing for the same blades doesn't cover the C4 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-207-407-MERC...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
BigJohnD Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Having recently replaced my wiper blades, I've had a good look at the old ones. They're certainly very different from the conventional blade, based on a rubber blade with a steel spine. The material seems have a curved shape "memorised" to ensure even pressure along the point of contact. It does look as though the end caps come off and the rubber should slide out, but I couldn't get the caps off, and the profile of the rubber is very different from a conventional length which can be bought in Halfrauds. The new blades are very, very good. Link to Bosch… Citroën Part Numbers:6426.XF - 700mm wiper blade (UK/RHD nearside)6426.XG - 600mm wiper blade (UK/RHD offside) Quote
Mat Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 I got the Citroen replacement blade, which came to £23. Not as bad as i thought. When i bought cheap rubbers to try and fit myself, the end clips are very tight, but do come off with a flathead screwdriver and gentle force. However, the rubber blade and wing are all the same piece, and are narrower than cheap rubbers. Therefore, as i had broken the old rubber getting it out, i had to get a whole new replacement blade.
