I decided to do a mid-term oil change last weekend, my what a palava. In order to get to the sump I had to remove the complete undertray as Citroen have been too mean to make a hinged flap in it as per Xantia's.

Unfortunately as one bolt is right at the back you have to get right under the car, no just reaching under to release the bolts at the front. There are also two plastic clips which attach to the inner wheel arch housings as well, I wonder how robust they will be after being removed a few times in the winter. A pity about this undertray, it makes a simple job more time consuming.

Hi,
I know what you mean.My other car, a Nissan has an undertray and the bolts are long ago corroded into place, but luckily there's a hole for the sump plug and another to access the radiator drain plug.....Makes life much easier!
Cheerz. :D

My Mk1 HDi has an undertray which I've clouted a gazillion times on my very uneven drive. It's badly scratched but thats about it. They are made from a fibrous material which is very light and strong, so you would be trying hard to finish one off. With regard to the fixing bolts, take them out and refit with loads of copper grease. You should have no futures problems afterwards.

There's nothing wrong with the bolt, it's the one-way fukkitclip that it locates into. It's a plastic cage nut which will disintegrate without doubt.....

Hi,
I was overtaken by a Sahara Beige Desire HDi on the M40 yesterday and in the mirror it looked like his undertray was hanging down under the car!
We were later side by side at some traffic lights and he tried to "race" me up the dual carriageway......Unfortunately my 1.6 petrol was too brisk for him, from a standing start!
Cheerz,

The undertray on the HDi has a vent under the sump with a rubber fin on the front edge. It gives the look like the whole lot is hanging off, thats maybe what you saw.

Oxy: You only got under the HDi at the lights, cos he let you! We diesel drivers don't rush about like you petrol types don't you know   :D
