Hi All

I currently have a citroen xantia 2.0 HDI X reg

Initially i had a very hard and noisy ride, so i took it to my local specialist - who looked and changed the rear spheres.

the ride has now vastly improved, not bouncing everywhere like before.

I still have an issue with noise. When you go over a road hump or uneven road- the car makes a creaking noise.

I thought it might do that due to the age of the car, but my brother has an even older honda civic which makes no noises like that.

Any idea's

Thanks for looking !!!!!

Regards

J

Is the noise from the front or rear of the car? If it's from the rear it would indicate worn rear arm bearings, normally this happens at high mileages. It can be seen by looking at the car from behind at the angle of the wheels which should be vertical and not like / \ . The repair kit is about £30 per side and not too difficult to do diy.

The rear arm bearings are within the arm where it swings on the chassis. Each swinging arm consists of a spacer about three inches long with a bearing each side of the spacer and a seal on the outer edge of each bearing. A long bolt goes through each arm and through the chassis. A repair kit consists of two bearings and a new spacer. Beware that the estate version requires larger bearings and AFAIK they don't do a kit.
