Hi everyone,

I've just bought a Citroen ZX Elation which is my first car. I need to get brake fluid, coolant and oil for it, and all the manauls say to get Citroen recommended stuff.

Just wondered if this is actually important, and if so does anyone know what's best for each?

Any good quality products will do. If your engine is diesel you need a multigrade with a viscosity of 15/40 marked API CF/CD. For the cooling system an ethylene-glycol based antifreeze - but it's important that only one type should be used. Don't mix various brands. The brakes need a fluid marked DOT 4.

Depends on the quality of the local tap water.

If water are "hard" (high PH) - it's better to used a ready mix. I use the PUG/CITROEN original coolant, which is called "TECHNIC".
