hey thurr everyone!

am having a problem i hope you can all help me with.

basically with our C3 the otherday it brokedown on the motorway at traffic when we had to break. when we tried to move off it would not move and the engine management light came on any ideas what this could be first of all? the water level gauge is a bit tempremental and takes about 5 minutes to give an accurate reading could this be it?

but anyway the warranty people (we have only had car 1 month its an 03 1.4 Auto) told us we have to pay for the diagnostics ourselves.

pardon the language but are they talking "bollocks?"

it seems strange to me!

helppppppppp!

Thanks,

This seems to be the case with a breakdown warranty - you have to pay to determine if the cause is a breakdown that is covered by the insurance. This will be in the policy booklet.

When the injectors failed on our C3 though, we had only done a few hundred miles since purchase, were told by the dealer we would need to pay for the diagnostics (about £70) but when time came to pay the bill we were not charged since we had not had the car long and they had enough money from the warranty company to cover their costs. From this dealer we do have 3 cars (C3, C5, Picasso) and these have been serviced by them.

Injector failure did still let the engine run with a misfire (1.4 petrol) and the engine light came on.

Yep, that is fairly standard practice with warranty companies.

After all, if they paid to find out what the fault was and it wasn't covered, how many people do you think would re-imburse them?

If the fault is covered under the warranty they'll normally pick up the diagnosis bill anyway.
