My radiator fan has recently started running all the time.

It does stop after the car has been switced off and left for about 2mins. However, as soon as you turn on the ignition away she goes again???

This has no bearing on how warm the engin is, as it does it from cold.

Any ideas, many thanks in advance.

It;s a problem with the control unit - I have well documented issues with aircon & non-running fans + overheat alarms going off all the time & last weekend bit the bullet - discovered both aircon & cooling fans had failed --- fitted a couple of spares & have the same problem as you - bit the bullet, decided the aircon would not work again so fitted a 'kenlowe' type separate thermostat - problem (at least for the cooling sorted for £24)

Thanks for the really quick reply scimitargtc.

However, not sure of the link with aircon??? Aircon is working fine. The fault is on the engine radiator cooling fan (running all the time).

Can you clarify.

Could be a faulty coolant temperature switch, probably located somewhere between the cylinder head and the radiator - if you find it, try unplugging the wiring connector to see if this stops the fan or may be better (to avoid any possible management codes) with the ignition off to unplug the connector and check the resistance across the switch with the coolant hot and also cold - when cold there should be an open circuit.

Above references to air con may be that this would require the fan to run to cool the air con condenser - to rule this out turn off the air con.

Cheers Paul. Will give that a go this next week, - on 12 hour nights (13 on Sat ;) ) over this weekend. Will post back any findings.
